Disable Automatic App Updates in Android

Disable Automatic App Updates in Android

It is convenient to have your phone automatically install app updates as they become available, there are also some good reasons for wanting to install your apps manually. You may want to conserve your data plan usage, for example, or you may simply want to keep tighter control over what gets installed on your Android device.

If you own an Android smartphone or tablet and your apps keep annoyingly updating themselves then here's our guide on how to stop Android apps automatically updating.

1. In the Play Store, touch the menu button in the upper-left corner of the screen.

2. Touch “Settings” on the menu.

3. The “Auto-update apps” option is in the “General” section of the “Settings” screen. If it says               “Auto-update apps at any time. Data charges may apply,” then your apps will be automatically              updated. To turn this option off, touch “Auto-update apps.”

4. On the “Auto-update apps” dialog box, touch “Do not auto-update apps.”

5. The dialog box closes and the “Auto-update apps” option is updated with the “Do not auto-update       apps” setting.

If you select the “Allow automatic updating” check box so there is a check mark in the box, the following dialog box displays asking if you want to turn on auto-update for all apps.
